Welcome Students & Parents

June 12, 2017

Well, here it is…the last week of school. Can you believe it?!

We will be preparing our portfolios and practicing our presentation of them. We will also meet up with our kindergarten buddies so they can practice presenting their portfolios.  We will basically be wrapping up all kinds of odds and ends in various subjects this week!

The events for this week:

Wednesday: Field Day 12:45-2:45

5th Grade Party at the Calico 5:00

Friday:   Clap Out 11:45-11:50

    Portfolio Showing 12:35-1:05

Summer vacation begins at 1:06 :>)

Those of you who have been down this fifth grade road with me before, know that this Friday is my least favorite day of the year. While I am extremely proud of all that these children have accomplished, I am always sad to see them leave. On top of that, I am a big crybaby and I don’t do well with goodbyes!  So, since I already know I will have a hard time on Friday, please read on.

Thank you. Thank you. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for the love, support and guidance you gave your child this year. You should be proud of the growth your child made. As they were preparing their portfolios, kids were saying things such as, “Oh my gosh. Look how much better my writing is now!” “I can’t believe how many books I read this year.” “Wow. We did a lot of work.” All of those statements are SO true and they are only the tip of the iceberg. The thinking and learning that these kids did amazed me day after day. They are more than ready for their next academic step.

I thank you as well for the support and help you gave me. From chaperoning at TSS, to class parties, support from home when your child and I both needed it, (it DOES take a village!) and just the everyday “stuff” you helped with throughout the year.

I wish you all a wonderful summer. Hopefully I’ll see you out on a trail or on a bike path!

Take Care,

Nancy
