TCSD #1 Announces Local National History Day Winners
Monday, March 13th, 2017

On March 8th TCSD #1 hosted the Wyoming Region 7 National History Day. Students from Pinedale, Jackson Hole Community School and Star Valley joined Jackson Hole Middle School and Jackson Hole High School in the regional competitions.

JHMS teacher, Barb Sanchez commented "Students who participated in the junior-level National History Day Region 7 competition produced an exceptional number of high quality projects. Students (ages 13-14) worked for several months to research topics based on the theme of "Standing Up in History."The students' commitment to their work, their persistence and perseverance in completing their projects, and the outstanding projects showed evidence of their learning."

JHHS teacher Jeff Brazil added, I keep considering moving this project to a junior or senior class because that is who we are often competing against in State and National Competitions, but the amazing growth in skills and historical thinking that takes place for these Freshmen in really incredible and valuable for our school. It is a huge leap for most of the students involved but they really stepped up their quality of work this year. It is super-rewarding to be a part of every year!"

TCSD is excited to announce the following 1st, 2nd and 3rd place winners from JHMS and JHHS. Students who placed 1st, 2nd, or 3rd are now eligible to participate in the state-level competition at the University of Wyoming in April.
