Principal's Newsletter
Tuesday, September 3rd, 2013
Dear Moran School Families,
Welcome to the 2013-14 school year! We are excited to have the students back in school after what we hope was a fun and relaxing summer for all. A warm welcome to all students new to Moran School!

I am looking forward to another great year. Having the opportunity to work as a part of this excellent, small community school is truly an honor.

Tracy Poduska, Moran School Principal

Moran School Staff
We have a dedicated and talented teaching staff at Moran School. I’d like to welcome our new teachers and support staff:

Pier Trudelle – assistant principal
Brad Dickey – school psychologist
Nancy Brumsted – PEAK and music

School Leadership
Caroline Ryan will continue to serve as Lead Teacher at Moran School. Similar to last year, Caroline’s responsibility is to facilitate the daily operations of the school, outside of the classroom environment. She and I communicate regularly about all aspects of Moran School.

This year, Pier Trudelle is supporting outlying schools by serving as the assistant principal of Moran and Kelly Schools. Pier will be at Moran School on Fridays, and in addition to on-site support, she will also lead our school improvement and behavior support work.

Open House at Moran School
This year’s Open House is scheduled for Monday, September 16. Please join me in the project room at 6:00 for a short presentation. It will be a great opportunity for you to learn about the new school year, what teachers have been learning to improve their instruction, our processes for continuous improvement of student learning, and of course to address your questions.

Old Bill’s Fun Run – Saturday, September 7
This year, Teton County School District will receive Old Bill's funds through the Teton County Education Foundation (TCEF), an independent, non-profit organization dedicated to sustaining and extending the excellence of Teton County's public schools. With your support through Old Bill's Fun for Charities, the Teton County Education Foundation will continue to work cooperatively and collaboratively with the school district and schools to benefit local students.

Parents – you are able to designate your funds to Moran School when donating to the TCEF! This year, Moran School will use Old Bill’s donations to support extracurricular activities such as the ski program and field trips.

To make your gift at, select Teton County Education Foundation-Moran School from the list of nonprofits. These funds will directly benefit Moran School students, and the match will go to TCEF. Thanks for your support, & see you at Old Bill’s next Saturday, September 7!

Home-School Connection Newsletter
Attached is the September issue of the Home-School Connection newsletter. This monthly newsletter is filled with practical ideas to promote academic success, effective parenting, a solid home-and-school partnership, healthy habits, and positive character traits. I hope you find it a valuable resource! September’s issue includes information about establishing routines at home. At school, establishing and practicing routines is an important component of the first weeks of school. At the classroom open houses, you will learn about the daily routines that take place in your child’s classroom.

Communication Information
Please keep lines of communication open between home and school. We appreciate knowing about issues early on, and of course, hearing about what is working and going well is appreciated, too! You can always reach me or your child’s teacher by phone or email.

To conserve paper and backpack clutter, many flyers and informational items will be attached to the parent newsletter.
