Principal's Newsletter 10.25.12
Thursday, October 25th, 2012
Dear Moran School Families,
I hope this note finds you enjoying our newly fallen snow. I’m looking forward to seeing all of you this weekend at the annual Moran Fall Festival! Many thanks to the Moran School staff and families for your tremendous work to make the festival a fun family event! Its success as a fundraiser supports numerous student activities.

Stranger Danger Presentation
Hopefully you’d had a chance to speak with your student about School Resource Officer Matt Carr’s discussion last week about staying safe around strangers. If you would like more information, or additional resources, visit the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children –
Here are a few key points Officer Carr discussed with the students in an age-appropriate way:
Strangers can be good or bad, and it’s hard to tell by looks and how they act.
If you feel uncomfortable or unsure around a stranger, find a safe adult - this could be an officer, a parent, a teacher, a person in a store with a name tag.
Don't help an adult stranger who asks for help. Adults should only ask other adults for help.
Don't get in or near a car of a stranger, ever.
Trick or Treat in a group, and especially for younger students, go with an adult.
Ask you parents to point out the safe places you can ask for help.

Home School Connection Newsletter
Attached is the October issue of the Home-School Connection newsletter. This monthly newsletter is filled with practical ideas to promote academic success, effective parenting, a solid home-and-school partnership, healthy habits, and positive character traits. I hope you find it a valuable resource!

Swimming Program
This week, students had the opportunity to develop the life-long skill of swimming by participating in lessons at the Jackson/Teton Co. Recreation Center. Proceeds from the Moran Fall Festival enable the students to participate in the lessons at no cost to families. Students had a blast, so thank you parents for your work at home to send them prepared each day!
